ROUGH Art Show
ROUGH was a show for art in-progress that inspires community feedback and interaction with art. In February 2017, fifteen artists, including painters, writers, quilters and ceramicists showed works in progress while the community interacted with the rough drafts in various ways to shape the artists' final piece for a second show in June. I formulated questions intended to get the impression of the rough draft as well as the accompanying pieces, in addition to suggestions for the final draft of the piece.
The ROUGH piece that resulted is titled “Xicana”, which depicts the likeness of Josie Valadez Fraire, an activist for social justice and youth educator in the Denver area, who was wrongly arrested for burning sage, a sacred native practice, at an anti-Trump rally. |
Spit Poet Collaboration
Spit Poet is a self published poetry zine made by Spit Poet Publishing. I had the opportunity to illustrate the cover art for volume two.
